Nutrition Consultations

  • Growth and Weight Monitoring

Monitoring growth and weight is a critical aspect of identifying children at risk of malnutrition. At ProPaeds, we prioritise the close collaboration with dieticians to formulate tailored nutritional plans, recognising that normal growth is indicative of good nutrition.

Neurodevelopment Assessment

At ProPaeds, we believe in development review/monitoring at every visit, ensuring early referral if necessary. This involves a meticulous evaluation of the child’s brain development, scrutinising neurological pathways that influence various facets of performance and functioning. These include but are not limited to intellectual functioning, reading ability, social skills, memory, and attention or focus skills.

School Assessments and Evaluations, with a Focus on ADHD

Our expertise extends to addressing behavioural and scholastic concerns that may have been observed by either parents or teachers. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), recognised as a medical condition, manifests in challenges related to attention, the ability to sit still, and self-control. ADHD can impact a child’s academic performance, home life, and social interactions. At ProPaeds, we implement tailored measures to support your child, fostering adaptation and improved concentration in both academic and social settings.

Allergy Consultations

Allergies are on the rise worldwide and can cause a major burden on the child as well as on the family. Allergies are complex and these consultations take time and expertise. At ProPaeds we care for a large number of patients with a wide variety and spectrum of allergic diseases. Some of the services we offer include:

  • Allergy Testing
  • Skin prick tests are done on site.
  • The skin prick test, also referred to as a puncture or scratch test, is a diagnostic procedure designed to identify immediate allergic reactions to a spectrum of up to 4 different substances simultaneously. This test is instrumental in pinpointing aergies related to pollen mold, pet dander, dust mites and various foods. 
  • More specialised testing is also available.
  • Immunotherapy
  • Sublingual and subcutaneous immunotherapy is offered at ProPaeds
  • Immunotherapy is an alternative or supportive treatment for uncontrolled and or some life-threatening allergies.
  • Oral food challenges
  • Confirming or excluding a food allergy and or tolerance level by exposing patients to an allergen in a controlled environment.

Immediate health assessments commence after the birth of a baby, incorporating the Apgar test to evaluate various parameters such as muscle tone, pulse rate, reflex irritability, skin color, and respiration. Our attentive care ensures the well-being of newborns.

Daily ward rounds while the baby is in hospital, monitoring for jaundice, feeding assistance and advice until discharged.
